How did we overcome Isaac UTI at 6 months?

Today, I want to share with you one of the most challenging times in my parenting journey - the past two weeks when my son Isaac fell sick and needed special care. As a first-time parent, this experience was both emotionally and physically demanding, but it also taught me valuable lessons about love, care, and faith.

It all started when our little Isaac developed a urinary tract infection, and the doctor recommended hospitalization for proper treatment. In our local culture, some traditional remedies are believed to work for such conditions, but I was hesitant to try them on my six-month-old baby. We decided to follow the doctor's advice and admitted Isaac to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics.

During those ten days in the hospital, my wonderful wife and I had to be there for our little one every step of the way. I must say, she's an absolute rockstar when it comes to caring for Isaac. We were on diaper duty, entertaining him with rattles, reading books, and singing nursery rhymes to keep his spirits up. One particular nursery rhyme, "Johnny Johnny Yes Papa," became his favorite, and I customized the lyrics to fit his name. Seeing his smile in response to my singing was the highlight of each day and took away any stress we might have felt.

Though the whole experience was physically tiring and financially draining, it brought us closer as a family. We became more intentional about caring for each other, and our relatives and friends showed an outpouring of love and support. Wene's sister, Dete Grace, and her husband, Nenard, stepped in immediately to help us with Isaac's care. They spent time at the hospital, allowing me to go home and take care of important matters. Wene's sister also visited to check on baby Isaac's condition. My sister, Joy, and my brother, Bal, generously assisted us financially.

Our spiritual brothers and sisters were there for us too. Our Ninong Charles and Ninang Jane, along with Ninang Malu and Emz, made the effort to visit Isaac despite the heavy traffic. They brought joy and comfort during those trying days.

The doctor advised us to take Isaac to the Philippine Children's Medical Center in Quezon City, where specialized doctors for babies are available. We had to brave through heavy traffic to get there on a Friday afternoon. Our second parents, Jelo and Janelle Singson, who are also our spiritual mentors, visited us at the hospital, even if it meant traveling late at night under difficult conditions.

In the midst of the challenges, we never felt alone. God was with us every step of the way, providing for our needs and guiding us through it all. The journey was tough, but it didn't leave a scar on my faith. It only strengthened my belief that God is faithful, and He knows everything we go through in life. We give Him all the glory for seeing us through this difficult time.

So, to all the parents out there facing tough times with your children's health, know that you are not alone. Embrace the love and support of family and friends, and have faith that God is watching over you and your little ones.
